Open Instagram or TikTok, and you will see hundreds of Pakistani students posting videos of the Bosphorus, drinking tea in Galata, and living their best life in Turkey.
It looks like paradise. And in many ways, it is.
But is it a good career move? Turkey has exploded as a study destination because it offers a “European” lifestyle at an “Asian” price point. However, moving there is not as simple as booking a flight. The economy is volatile, and the language barrier is real.
At Luxurious Educational Platform, we send students to top universities in Istanbul, Ankara, and Northern Cyprus. We want you to love your experience, not regret it. Here is the honest truth about studying in Turkey.

The PROS: Why Pakistani Students Love It
1. Affordable Excellence Compared to the UK or USA, Turkey is a bargain.
- Tuition: You can find quality degrees for $2,000 – $6,000 per year at private universities. Public universities are even cheaper (if you pass the entrance exam).
- Living Cost: While inflation is high, food and rent are still cheaper than in Dubai or London.
2. The “Halal” Comfort Zone For Pakistani families, Turkey feels safe.
- Food: Everything is Halal. You don’t have to check ingredients.
- Culture: The Adhan is heard five times a day. The values of hospitality and family are very similar to Pakistan. You won’t feel total “culture shock.”
3. The Gateway to Europe (Erasmus) This is the biggest secret weapon. Turkey is part of the Erasmus+ Program. This means even if you study in a Turkish university, you can spend 1 or 2 semesters studying in Germany, France, or Italy for free (and sometimes get paid a stipend!). It is an incredible way to see Europe legally.

The CONS: The Reality Check
1. The Language Barrier (It is Not Optional) Do not think you can survive with just English.
- In Class: Yes, your degree might be in English.
- On the Street: The bus driver, the landlord, and the shopkeeper likely speak zero English.
- The Fix: You must learn basic Turkish. If you refuse to learn, you will feel isolated and frustrated.
2. The Lira & Inflation The Turkish Lira (TL) has been unstable. Prices change frequently.
- The Fix: We advise students to keep their savings in Dollars or Euros and only convert what they need for the month. This protects your budget from inflation.
3. Strict Residency Rules (Ikamet) Getting a Student Residence Permit (Ikamet) has become tougher in 2026.
- The Reality: The government checks attendance. If you just go there to work and skip university, they will cancel your permit and deport you. You must be a genuine student.
The Verdict: Who is Turkey For?
Turkey is perfect for you if:
- You want a high-quality degree that is recognized in Europe.
- You have a moderate budget (not enough for UK, but more than China).
- You are willing to learn a new language and integrate into a rich, historical culture.
It is NOT for you if:
- You want to work full-time illegally (wages are low).
- You hate learning languages.
