The Visa Interview Survival Guide: 10 Questions Every Pakistani Student Gets Asked

Share

It is the moment of truth. You are standing at the window of the High Commission (UK/USA) or sitting across the desk at the Embassy (Turkey/Schengen). The officer looks at your passport, then looks at you. “Why did you choose this university?”

Your heart starts racing. Your mind goes blank. You stutter. And just like that, a 6-month effort can be rejected in 60 seconds.

Visa interviews are not interrogations; they are Credibility Checks. The officer just wants to know: Are you a genuine student? or Are you trying to slip into the country to work illegal jobs?

At Luxurious Educational Platform, we conduct mock interviews for every single student. We don’t let you walk into that room unprepared. Here are the top 10 questions you will be asked—and how to answer them.

The “Big 3” Questions (These Decide Your Fate)

1. “Why did you choose this specific university?”

  • Bad Answer: “Because it is cheap” or “My agent told me to.” (Instant Rejection).
  • Good Answer: Mention specific details. “I chose the University of Hertfordshire because their Computer Science module includes Python and AI, which fits my career goal. Also, their campus in Hatfield is safe and has great labs.”

2. “Why don’t you study this course in Pakistan?”

  • Bad Answer: “Pakistan’s education system is bad.” (Never insult your home country).
  • Good Answer: “Pakistan has great universities, but this specific specialization in [Subject] is not available at the undergraduate level here. The exposure to international research methods in the UK/China will make me more competitive when I return to Pakistan.”

3. “How will you fund your studies?”

  • Bad Answer: “I will work part-time to pay my fees.” (This is illegal for tuition. Instant Rejection).
  • Good Answer: “My father, who owns a business/is a government officer, is my sponsor. We have already paid the first semester fee and have sufficient funds in [Bank Name] to cover my living expenses for the entire year. I do not need to work to support myself.”

The “Trap” Questions (Be Careful!)

4. “What is the location of your university?”

  • If you don’t know the city or the nearest airport, you look fake. Memorize the geography!

5. “Do you have any relatives in the UK/Europe?”

  • Truth is Key. If you lie and say “No” when your uncle lives in London, they will see it on their database and ban you for deception. If you say “Yes,” just clarify that you will not be living with them if you have your own accommodation.

6. “What are your plans after graduation?”

  • The Golden Rule: Always show “Ties to Home.”
  • Answer: “I plan to return to Pakistan and join my family business / apply for a role at a multinational company like Nestle or Engro using my international degree.” (Do not say: “I want to settle in London.”)

Rapid Fire Round (Know These by Heart)

  1. “What is your course duration?” (know the exact months).
  2. “How much is your total tuition fee?” (Know the exact figure, not a rough guess).
  3. “Where will you stay?” (Have the address of your hostel/dorm memorized).
  4. “What was your last qualification?” (Be ready to explain any gap years).

Final Tip: Body Language Matters

  • Eye Contact: Look the officer in the eye. Looking down looks guilty.
  • Dress Code: Wear formal clothes. You are applying for a professional degree, not going to the gym.
  • Smile: A nervous smile is better than a scared frown. Be polite.

Don’t leave it to luck.

At Luxurious Educational Platform, our students pass interviews because they have practiced the answers until they are natural. We don’t script you; we train you.
